Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

The key to becoming a good test taker begins long before the test begins. Gaining higher test scores requires preparation. While in class, effective note taking is where everything begins. Memory fades very quickly, especially when presented with an abundance of new information in a relatively small tiime frame, which is why good note taking is crucial! Once you are informed of upcoming exams, making a plan is the next step. Decide what to study and when, but be sure to break study sessions to ensure all of the information is not crammed in at once and study over a few days, don’t wait until the day before a test is scheduled. Once test day has arrived the most effective start is to take any information that is likely to be forgotten quickly, such as formulas, names, or dates, and write them down immediately. Then, always look for cues from other questions if there is anything that you are unsure about. Often times, by reading previous or later questions, you will be able to deduce the answer needed. As you nearing the end of the time allotted for the exam, make sure to always answer all questions, even if you are simply guessing. Better to guess and have a chance than skip the question and get it wrong without a doubt. Finally, if there is any time left, go back to questions you were uncertain of to see if it becomes more familiar. Following these simple steps will ensure great test scores through out your educational years.
