Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

There are many ways that one could prepare for an up coming test, but not all of them are worth the time that is required to do each strategy well. First, I want to talk about things that aren't necessarily practices for studying for tests, but do help greatly. I find it extremely helpful to pay really close attention to the material that is said in the lecture, because while the study guides that someone might make are helpful, they are not the teachers themselves. One might ask then why is a teacher much better than a study guide to which I reply students in class can ask the teacher questions or to explain something again. Along the same lines if I forget to ask something in class, I look for their tutoring times and attend to ask for any help I might need on a particular hard problem I might be stuck on.
Aside from what I do in class to prepare for a test, I do use a few strategies that have proved useful to me over the many years. Depending on what kind of exam I will be taking, I make practice problems that are similar to the ones we do in class. After making them I proceed to do all different problems that I had made so I get an idea of what I will see on the test. On calculus and physics tests, I like to write down models and make sure I know them really well so If i get stuck on a certain problem I can rely on the model to maybe help me along in my thinking. This is one of my favorite ways to prepare, because it works most of the time for me. It is like laying out a tool which I can use how I need to solve the problem I am currently on. Using these methods have allowed me to succeed in every class that I have taken.
