Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Flashcards are by far my favorite way to study vocabulary, significant people, and scientific laws. I write them out with highlighters to make the studying more colorful and fun, and have designated a specific color for each class. Writing the flashcards allows me to remember the words better than using an online flashcard creator that has me type the words and definitions.
Review videos are another of my favorite ways to study. Crash Course by John and Hank Green are my favorite videos to watch because they are fun and share a lot of information within a few minutes. There are videos available to watch on every topic that I have ever been confused on or wanted to review, and listening to people other than my teachers can help to show a new perspective on what I am studying.
Studying with my friends can also help, because if one of us is confused on a topic or missed something in that class, another will likely have understood it. We can help each other, and don’t have to face the daunting task of asking the teacher to help after school. Studying with friends is also much more fun because we get to talk and come up with funny mnemonic devices.
These three methods have become my go-to study actions when I have a test coming up or want to learn more about a subject. They have helped me to achieve a weighted GPA of 4.6 throughout high school, and I have gotten only 4s or 5s on the five AP tests I have already taken.
