Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

When preparing for the ACT, I was initially very overwhelmed by all of the different prep books and online materials that were available. I didn't know where to begin. I took the ACT a total of 5 time. I know what you're thinking. And yes, it was a lot of times but, with each attempt I was able to become less nervous and score better (I went from a 24 to a 32). For me, the most essential part of my ACT prep was getting over the anxiety that came with college entrance exams. I went to a test preparation center called Huntington in preparation for the exams. I don't think that there was anything new that they taught me but, I do feel like through guided preparation, I was able to be less anxious and score better. Another thing that helped me was timed practice tests. This gave me the ability to see where I was at and what improvements I needed to make in order to achieve higher. My test preparation center also gave me tips on how to be quicker in the science and english section which I also feel helped me a significant amount. Overall, I don't think that there is one right way to prepare for college entrance exams that will work for everyone. I feel that it is more of a trial and error in finding out what works and what doesn't work for you individually.
