Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

My test preparation has many steps, some are put into place before the lesson even begins. To begin, you want to make sure you have a good relationship with your teacher or professor. This will make it easier to ask questions and learn because if the instructor knows you personally, he or she will know how to teach you. Also, be sure to write down everything: lesson dates, quiz, dates, and most importantly, test dates. This will make sure you are prepared for everything that is yet to come. You want to start by looking over the information before you get to class and having everything you need: notebooks, pencil or pen, highlighters, and a calculator if it's a math class. During the lesson, all electronics should be turned off and put away as well as any other distractions. All focus should be on the teacher and the lesson. Throughout the lesson, write down everything you can. Ask questions, highlight key points and vocabulary words, and make connections between each concept and the real world. After the lesson, ask any more questions you may have to clear anything up. Later that same day, you want to start off your study time by rewriting all of your notes from the day. This is to make sure you know everything and so you can read your notes better when it comes time to study for the test. Be sure to organize everything so you can find it easily. During the week leading up to the test, you will want to reread all of your notes to make sure you know it all. Ask your instructor any questions because they are there to help you and set you up to succeed. Make flash cards of all vocabulary words and their definitions as well as for any key points. Use mnemonic devices as well to memorize all of the information. Go over all of these study tools until you get them all right multiple times. The night before the test, study the hardest material you have and then go to bed early. Get about 8 hours of sleep and wake up in time to have a nice, filling breakfast.
