Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Test preparation is something that scares every student in some way, and it affects me just the same as I suffer from test anxiety. I have tried many methods. I have attempted and failed many times, however I now believe that I am on the right path with the right technique for me. As I have taken many memorization classes, I believed that staring at the words would be enough, however, in my practice, I have found that rewriting concepts and speaking the answers out loud helps me the most. My most effective way of studying is to write out the flashcards, and then write out the answer on paper while I say that same answer out loud, giving me the opportunity to both see and hear the answer. As for other tests, such as SAT testing or MCAT testing, I have found it most useful to also use flashcards, but to also discuss concepts with professors or fellow students who are also in your shoes. Speaking to others has helped me tremendously and it also opens the doors to more information that could have been missed when studying alone. Including others also introduces other obscure test preparation methods which also can help studying even more. Even if it seems that there is no better way to study than you are right now, something can always be improved, so keep your eyes open for those other little tips and tricks that could help turn that B into an A.
