Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Preparing for a test can be very stressful. Sometimes, it is even overwhelming to the point where you just give up. You might not even try to study because you don’t know how to start. If you don’t study that often, it can be difficult to start. Everyone is different when they study for tests. It also depends on what subject you have to prepare for. As long as you know what works for you, you can start to prepare for a test in an organized way. From being in school for so long, I have come to learn what works for me when it comes to studying and preparing. It took me a while to figure out what helps me and what doesn’t.
First thing that helps me, and one of the most important when starting anything, is to get organized. What I mean by get organized is that you have to organize your notes/materials that help you. You can stack your material in an order of most important to not that important. What this does is this helps you to study material that you know is going to be on the test. If you study materials that you’re unsure are going to be on the test first, it keeps you from retaining information that is important.
Secondly, rewriting information or highlighting key parts of your notes is a good way to embrace information from your materials. Rewriting my notes forces me to reread the content and also write down the information again. By doing so, my brain is able to recall the information even if it’s just a little because it remembers seeing it and writing it. Highlighting the key parts of my notes is very useful because when going over my notes, my eyes are automatically attracted to the brighter colors and information.
Thirdly, what i do is record myself saying my notes and the important information. After recording all of it, I would listen to it constantly in the morning, and especially before going to bed. When I do this, it helps me to retain information before going to sleep and then remembering it when I wake up.
