Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
During my first two years of high school, I never realized the importance of studying and concentrating on test prep. This is until my junior year kicked off. My classes started becoming more difficult so I created a plan that I tend to continue to use today. The way I prepare for a large test is that as soon as I receive my materials such as vocabulary, I make flash cards right away. This is not a hard task to do so anyone could be capable of trying out this method. I chose this method for my education because when I read the materials that I need to have memorized on a sheet of paper, it is harder to focus my eyes on one section at a time. When I make flash cards, it is easier to read and helps me to learn faster. Sometimes I will even have a friend or a family member help study with me because they give good tips on how to remember the words I am having trouble on. I mainly use this method for my english class and art class while I use other methods for my more difficult classes. For example, this year I decided to take sociology and child development to help me to learn about topics I will be focusing on in college with my major. Well, these classes are some of my favorites, but they are higher in difficulty compared to the rest of my schedule. So, what I have decided to do all semester is that when our class starts a new chapter, I tend to actually read every part of it that is given in the book. I decided to start doing this because at times random information would be pulled out of our textbooks and were used in the quizzes. I felt that reading the entire chapter in depth would then help me understand it better and come to find out, when I took my tests after that I ended up passing them with an even better grade than I would have before. Studying is not hard to do, you just need to stay motivated and work hard for what you want at the end of the day. This is why I have been trying harder for my last year since I plan to attend college this next fall.
