Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

In order to be able to be successful in school, I believe that a student must develop good study habits and preparation skills for tests. Whether you are in High School or College, having good studying habits are going to be beneficial in doing well on tests and quizzes. These habits that students use could be ones that are typical among many students, or could be unique to that student. I personally have a few test preparation practices that have successfully worked for me throughout my years in school. For example, one study method that I use often is studying out loud. When I am studying, I tend to say the material out loud, as if I am reciting and explaining it to another person. I have been using this method since I was in middle school, and it has always helped me. By doing this, I am able to understand the test material more clearly, and it just helps me retain the information better. Another technique that I use when studying is walking back and forth. The downside to this method is that it might be hard to do, because you might be studying in a space where you do not have enough room to walk around. If you have the room and space, however, I highly recommend trying this technique. By constantly sitting down while studying, I believe you are more likely to get tired from doing so. In contrast, when walking around, you are staying active while studying, and may even help you to focus more. The last method that I use to study and prepare for assessments is creating mock tests. You can do this using study guides or any material given by your teacher. After reviewing the material, take a piece of paper and write down sample questions based on the study guide that you believe may be on the real test. Then, try to answer them to the best of your ability without using any notes, as if it were a real test. You can then make another test, asking different questions. Overall, just try different study techniques, and you will probably find one that works for you.
