Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Taking tests in school, although it is a completely normal thing, somehow always gets me extremely nervous. Some people may know this feeling; Sweaty palms, constantly looking around the room, being easily distracted, and reading the same questions over and over again unable to find the answer. Unfortunately, I experience this often. However, I have found that one of the best ways to ensure that I do not experience test anxiety is by fully preparing for every exam as well as I can.
Preparing for tests is different for everybody. For example, my roommate at my university loves preparing for tests with flashcards. However, I have never found flashcards effective for myself personally. I get bored and do not retain the information. The best studying method that I have found works for myself is when I am working with others.
By working with others, I am not only holding other people accountable for studying, but they do the same in return. When in a study group, everybody is focused, so I am automatically influenced to study. It is also encouraging, because I can work with my peers to find information that we cannot understand, and cheer each other on when we start to become frustrated. Working with my peers also prevents me from getting bored, because I am socializing while learning. Lastly, while studying with my peers I can do things that I would not be able to do myself, such as studying games or activities.
On the day of a test, I try hard to make sure I am well rested. I eat beforehand, so I have no hunger distractions and the fuel I need. I bring mints with me, because I have heard that mint helps you think. I try to remember to breathe and relax while taking a test. I reassure myself that, although it is important to get good grades, it is not worth my anxiety, stress, or mental health. I try to think back to all of the exercises and activities I did with my peers to study. By doing all of these things, I feel much more prepared, and can succeed on my tests.
