Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
I think the most important part of preparing for a test or a high-risk/ high-stakes situation is by getting yourself mentally prepared. If you go through all of the possible scenarios in your head, it can give you a different perspective on how to approach the situation. Before any big test or grade I like to calculate what score I need to get in order to maintain a good grade in the class. This way, I can estimate about how many questions or problems that I need to get right. I feel like this puts me in a better headspace than thinking that I need to get every single problem right, especially if I don't feel confident in the material. Another important preparation practice, as cliché as it seems, is reassuring yourself that you can do it. If you go into a test with a negative attitude, you're going to have a negative outcome. I always try and stay calm and collected by telling myself that "I've got this" or "I can do it". I've noticed that these practices help me feel better during and after every test, and when I do them I almost always yield better results.
