Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Studying for an exam is definitely not any student’s favorite hobby. However, over the years, I have come to enjoy putting in time and effort to make sure that I am well prepared for any exam that I take. This is mainly due to the fact that with every passing year as my courses become more difficult, I have had to change my test preparation habits and study skills in order to excel on exams. Additionally, over the years, I have had to force myself to quit procrastination because it was causing me to become distracted and unmotivated. Fortunately, now I have learned which test preparation practices work best for me and how to use those practices not only to memorize the content for the exam, but actually understand the information as well. The first step that I take to become well prepared for any exam is to divide the information I have already mastered apart from the areas that I need to study more. Once I have done that, I create a study schedule for myself and figure out how many days it will take me to master the information I need to study. I usually do not participate in study groups and prefer to study for exams by myself in a quiet place, which is why on average, it only takes me about 1-2 days to review all of my notes and test myself over the information I have mastered. Furthermore, although I always make sure to keep my notes organized and readable, I do not spend too much time color-coding my notes or making them look a certain way. I simply spend more time on creating flashcards or writing my notes down on paper because for me personally, I learn any material best by reviewing it thoroughly, highlighting all of the important information, and reading it multiple times in order to really understand the main focus of the subject. Making flashcards is truly a great way for me to study because I can carry them around with me all day at school and whenever I get the chance, I can always pull them out of my backpack and start studying for the exam.
