Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Something I have definitely been keeping track of is my anxiety when quizzes and test come around. Knowing that I procrastinate and forget about my priorities, I tend to pull things off to the side without having to process it thoroughly. But it was until my senior year where I knew that had to change. These habits had done nothing but push me back and get me bad grades. It took me a while to accept that whatever the other students were doing was not the best for me. I started to see all these assignments build up and I began to try different things such as buying a planner, color coordinating, going to office hours and reviewing my resources. I realized that list helped me more than just planner’s themselves so I switched to a calendar/note inserter. WIth that I was able to color coordinate my assignments by priority. This allowed me to do specific practices before doing those that didn’t mean so much. After that, I was able to gain confidence in my ability to stay organized and ask teachers for help. Especially in advance, teachers are their to help and guide you to do your best. With this, I was now able to use everything that was to my disposal. This self-taught lesson was created because I gave myself the opportunity to. I strongly believe that opportunities like growth are given very often and it is up to us as individuals to chose to take it. For example, Here at samueli Academy, they want to prepare you for the college life. Instead of making you re-do test and having you go to tutoring, they make it up to you to decide whether you want to fix that grade or not. Pretty strict but they do do it for our good. It is up to be to go on my time to fix something I could’ve done better the first time around. Now, to not do that, we should just strive to do our best the first time around right. So use a method that requires you to have your work written down and make sure to communicate with teachers and tutors to prepare you for something you only need to do once.
