Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

My best test preparation practice uses pneumonic, visual images, and repetition to help me be successful. I will first make a study guide of all the information that will be on an assessment. I will only include the most important details and topics so I do not focus on minute details that may not mater. Then I will work with each piece of information to create a saying to help me remember it or a visual image that includes objects that represent the information. I write down what technique I used for each piece of information. I then go through that study guide using my techniques at least twice a day for one to two weeks before the assessment. I spend about 30-45 minutes in each study session. It is shown through research that studying for shorter periods of time over a long time span is better for remember than cramming a lot of information into a short time. When I am taking the assessment, I then see the cue words or information that was on my study guide, and I know the saying, the image, or rhyme and therefore I can answer the question. It works for a variety of topics, classes, and tests. The most important part is repetition as that is how you will be comfortable using your techniques and be able to access them during the test.
