Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Suppose it’s the night before a big test, and I just got home from a Lacrosse game or work. It’s late, I’m tired, and I need to study so I do well on my test the next morning. On nights like these I need to quickly and effectively contain the information I study. My favorite preparation practice to use is creating flashcards on an online tool called Quizlet. Quizlet takes the flashcards I make and turns them into mini games. These mini games help me retain information better than when I use the old fashioned flash card matching method. Another effective method I use for quick and effective studying is defining vocabulary at the end of my textbook chapters. While defining vocabulary, I am re-learning the subjects that I read when initially covering them. This allows me to both solidify term definitions in my memory and skim through each chapter of a unit to keep concepts fresh. I generally will handwrite the vocabulary, as I find that I am able to remember what I handwrite better than what I type. I notice that if I have time and I use both of these study methods the night before a big test, I tend to score very high. These methods have worked very well for me and I plan on continuing to use them throughout my higher education.
