Preparing for a test is something that can affect how the test goes. For me, my preparation for a test includes no distractions, studying, and taking breaks. Whenever I study it is easy for me to become distracted, whether it be by my phone or a family member, so I make sure that my phone is off and that I am alone. Otherwise, chances are I won't be getting much work done. Studying is the most important. How can you do well on a test if you know nothing about the material on it? Simple, you can't. I find that flash cards and using colorful pens when writing notes helps me out the most. The flash cards help to memorize something more quickly than just reading it in a book, and the colorful notes add some fun into my reading. They also help me color-code sections so I know what topic I am studying and when the section changes. And lastly, relaxation. This one is also very important because it isn't good to push too much information into your brain all at once. I find that I need time to decipher and think about what I just learned, so a short break helps with letting the information sink in. Breaks also help me when I have been studying for too long and need to make room in my brain for more information. Pausing for 5 to 10 minutes allows my brain to clear out space for what else I need to learn. Now I know that everyone works differently, so what I do to study doesn't always work for everyone, but I find that it works out for me when I take tests.
