Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Test preparation is one of the most essential things you need to know when you're a college student, especially a nursing student. What works for me involves a few different learning styles that I'm sure can help anyone. The first step, is to record the lecture this helps in being able to listen to it later and catch anything that you may have missed, and it also helps playing it back to get the reinforcement. Next, I use the textbook and add any extra details on the topic to my notes in a different color pen so I can differentiate and also when it comes to the test I can remember "oh that's the thing I wrote in Red". After adding the notes to my powerpoint, I take blank computer paper and for each significant topic I rewrite the notes in diagram form, so I can connect everything and essentially put it all together. This is the key to studying, in nursing school you can't just memorize, you must be able to connect every detail and carry it on with you for the rest of your life. Although these study techniques are "old school", I have found after many attempts that these actually really do work. I have shared them with many classmates and they have switched over to this technique.
