Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

In preparation for a test my teachers would always tell me, "get lots of sleep", "eat a good breakfast" and my favorite "don't put it off to the last minute". My teachers were right these are all great ways to prepare for a test; however, it took me a while to find the best way to study. I would spend hours making note cards and proceed to forget all the information. It wasn't until psychology class that I found the best way to study. We learned that diagramming information is helpful to encode notes, this has proven especially useful as I consider myself a visual learner. Instead of making art museum worthy notes, I simply start with a general idea and let it expand and take up pages and pages. My notes are by no means pretty, or understandable to anyone but myself; however, as I organize all the information I begin to visualize it better. During tests I can think back to my crazy notes and figure out where they were and what I wrote. I wish I had known a long time ago that your work doesn't always have to be perfect. When you're studying it is for yourself, you don't have to use tiny flawless handwriting, it can be crazy and fun. The more absurd your notes are, the more likely you are to remember it in the future.
