Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Having strong test preparations in place are crucial to succeeding on tests. I grew up struggling immensely on tests at a young age. The problem for me was finding something that could work for me on a consistent basis. Everyone has their own way of test preparation but finding your own can be extremely difficult. It wasn't until I was in high school I was able to create a test preparation that worked best for me. My test preparation begins with starting a week in advance of the exam. One week until the exam I start going over material just to become more familiar with it. I usually do this right before I go to bed, because I truly believe studying before going to sleep helps retain knowledge the best. By the time I begin studying before the exam, all the material is fresh on my mind. Another thing I stress is the importance of notecards. I believe that there is no better way then using flashcards to study. They are easy to make and use and you can study them at anytime throughout the day. If you have a few minutes here and there, I will pull out my notecards. I always want to be as prepared as possible before taking any test. The most important thing for me, is studying the morning of the test. Whenever I have a test I will always wake up early and go over the material as much as I can. This helps me remember as much as possible by reading it over right before the test. However, always need to have a good full night of sleep before a test. This being said, I will go to bed extra early the day before the test so that I can get up early and prepare. Lastly, always need to eat a good meal before going into an test. I have went through numerous test without eating and that is one of the worst decisions I could have made. Eating a good healthy breakfast before a test is vital to staying focused. This process has helped me through every test I have taken in my college and high school career. This process works great and could help anyone seeking future success on tests.
