Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
When it comes to studying, I have found over the course of my education what style benefits me the most. One method that does not work for me is just reading through my notes. Reading through my notes does not help me remember the information. After reading through them, I have no idea what had been read. What does works for me personally is receiving information from more than one source or teacher. While trying to study, I tend to watch videos on the same topic, this way I can get two different styles and I might learn something from one source that I missed from the other. Also, flashcards have helped me tremendously. They are beneficial because I have to try to memorize what I need to know rather than just read it. To be able to retain the information, I need to be thinking about how I would teach it to someone else. Pretending to teach it to someone else is the best way to commit the information to long term memory. I like to study a couple days in advance for tests, but I try to really get serious about it the night before and the day of the test. One tip that has helped me is chewing the same gum while studying as I do for the test. In some way, it helps me to focus in on what I am trying to remember. Studying is never fun, but if you find what works best for you, you can be successful.
