Tell us a little bit about yourself and your plans for college.

Throughout my life, I always knew I wanted to pursue English. In high school, I had an incredible English teacher, who inspired me to pursue creative writing, especially poetry, full time. Ever since high school, my goal has always been to continue following my passion for English and Creative Writing, which I have carried with me into my current career as an educator. My pursuit of becoming a secondary education English teacher is heavily attributed to the teacher I had. After high school, I was lucky enough to be accepted into West Chester University’s undergraduate program for English 7-12 education. When I began my undergraduate degree, I had the opportunity to expose myself to various writing styles and genres. I was opened up to new types of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and drama. Having graduated in May 2023 from West Chester University with a degree in Secondary English Education with a minor in Creative Writing as an undergraduate, I would now love to continue pursuing these subjects even further.
By obtaining my Master’s in English and/or Education, I hope to strengthen my knowledge in the subject to become an even stronger educator. My long term goal is to graduate with my Master’s and eventually, pursue my Doctorate in English. I know that this scholarship would help me reach my goals. This money will allow me to continue my lifelong dream of being a secondary English teacher and becoming a doctor in my craft. With a combination of all of my experiences professionally as a current English teacher, I am ready to take my next step to earn my Master’s degree in Education, which this money would help me substantially.
