Tell us a little bit about yourself and your plans for college.

My hobbies and interests include mostly track and band. I enjoy running in track because it keeps me active and involved with others. Many of my friends are also in track, making it time for me to be with them as well as doing something that I enjoy. Marching, jazz, and concert band have been great experiences, too. Jazz band specifically, I’ve been in since sophomore year, and going to competitions, though stressful, is so fun. The environment is so fun, and the people you meet are amazing. In my free time, I also enjoy serving the community around me by helping out at school functions like basketball games or band events. Whenever a band event is at the middle school, I always try to help whenever possible.
My goal for the future is to do the same: help people out whenever I can. In my future career as a crime scene investigator, I hope to help those who need it my way. Through my career as a crime scene investigator, I will be able to help people find criminals and bring them to justice for the crimes they committed. Another future goal of mine is to become a part of Iowa State’s marching band. I would go to Iowa State’s football games and see the band play, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Being so close to Iowa State and going to all of their football games has made it almost certain that I’d enroll there, but I want a degree for more than just saying I’ve gone to ISU.
Getting a degree from ISU would allow me to do so much more with my life. It will also give me the skills needed to follow the career I want. Having the freedom to choose your career is important to me because otherwise, you’d be dependent on whatever opens up, leaving you with no say in your job. Doing what you want also makes it feel like it isn’t a job, making your job choice even more important.
