Tell us a little bit about yourself and your plans for college.

I am a high school senior who is passionate about art. Evidently, I have a creative gene because I've been creating one thing or another since I was about three years old. I have a painting that won The Congressional Art Competition, and it hung in our state representative's Washington office for a year. I was also one of four local artists and the only teenager invited to exhibit their art in a local art exhibition. I have done several commissioned art pieces which have helped add to my college fund. I was recently voted Most Artistic Senior Superlative. In school I am on our first-ever gymnastics team, but I have also participated in competition cheer, football cheer, soccer, and cross country. This year I have had a leading role in two One-Act-Plays. I love acting on stage! In the fall I will attend Georgia Southern University where I plan to major in Elementary Education. I hope to one day have a classroom where students' creativity is encouraged, embraced, and praised. I believe that integrating art into my classroom will encourage students to be actively involved in their learning. I have applied for many, many scholarships because I want to take some of the burden off my parents who will soon have two children in college. I am trying to save money from my part-time job, but gas for my car is eating into my stash. I am very involved with my church's youth group. We have done mission projects for our Christian Kitchen, Call to Care (foster children), Hunger Fight, Samaritan's Purse, and other activities where we help the less fortunate. I have tried all my life to be a compassionate person who helps others when I can. I have been blessed in many ways, and I want to bless others. Other things I enjoy are playing with my dog Zeta, spending time with friends, writing, putting together complicated Lego structures, and redecorating my room. I look forward to being an Honor Graduate and moving on to new adventures.
