Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Studying for long hours and cramming your brain with information at the last minute is anything but fun. Distributing studying overtime and alternating study spots benefits long-term retention. I found it more effective to study in 20-50 minute intervals and take 5-10 minute breaks. Hiding my phone or moving anything that will distract me helps me focus on my work. Using visual aids and flashcards is key to a successful study session. The repetition of the material drills it into my mind so I am best prepared for my test.
Taking care of my health is just as essential as studying. After my studying session I take a walk and do some exercise so I can have a good night's rest. In the morning I eat a good breakfast and go over my flashcards. Drinking lots of water and eating a mint helps wake me up and feel refreshed for my test. There are plenty of things one could do to feel the healthiest; you just need to find what works best for you.
Although tests can make me feel anxious and stressed; the right preparations can make me feel confident walking into that testing room. All of these preparations and strategies have personally helped me achieve some of my best grades. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have good studying habits and taking care of your body. This will either make you or break you when taking that test.
