Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
My advice is for students to look around and be proactive in taking advantage of help. Teachers are there to help you understand lessons and go over difficult material. Classmates are in the same position as you, and by teaming up, you can help each other by sharing your strengths. It’s daunting to ask for help, but once you do, a weight will be lifted because you have a person in your army who can provide support.
Another tip is to acquire tools to aid in practicing. I have benefited greatly from using flashcards, study guides, and songs. Yes, you read that correctly, songs. I first discovered this skill when I needed to memorize the Scout Law for Boy Scouts. I thought about how I had lyrics memorized very well. I decided to add that to my toolbag of techniques of learning and soon, I had the whole statement memorized by making it a tune. Everyone has a method of learning that works the best for them.
An aspect of test preparation that is frequently overlooked is caring for one's mental and physical health. I had a great teacher whose tips followed me well into my educational career. When there was a big test coming up, he gave us a guide on how to prepare. It advised us to take a relaxing shower, eat breakfast with healthy foods, and sleep well. You can pray, meditate to soothe your mind, think about goals, and put life into perspective.
If one studies diligently and puts work into what they are learning, they will get a grade that reflects their effort. There is no doubt about that. If you put your mind to the task and believe in yourself, working with your resources, taking care of yourself, and studying in the way that works for you. You can be the fiercest warrior marching into battle when the day comes to slay the test.
