Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

When it comes to education and academics, I am one who has an ongoing drive. I have a vision for success and a passion for achievement. Over the years, I have learned that the way I prepare for a test, directly influences my performance. When I entered my first year chemistry class, I was determined to succeed. I took notes persistently and asked questions whenever there was a misunderstanding. I truly wanted to understand the content to the best of my ability, and I wanted to keep my grades high in the process.

Sometimes the weeks preceding a test feel daunting. In most cases, the content is vast and the thought of fully understanding and memorizing the information is intimidating and overwhelming. After years of testing for various classes, I have learned a number of preparation practices that have proven to be most effective.

A few days before taking a test, I account for all of my notes, quizzes, questions, reviews, and anything else that might be relevant to the specific test. I then pick out the most emphasized concepts and ensure that I understand them by watching videos, doing some practice activities, etc. Once I understand the content, I compile it all into an organized and personalized study guide. I then ask my family members and friends to quiz me on my study guide to assure myself I understand important concepts.

By the time the test rolls around, I am confident in my abilities to succeed on the test. I truly get excited for a test when I have studied and know how to best accomplish the tasks laid before me. When I have finished the long awaited test, I feel relieved. It feels good to know that I have given the test my all.
