Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
The most effective way to prepare for any upcoming assessment is to look at all your past work on the subject. By looking at your past work you not only familiarize yourself with the type of content that will be on the test, but also with the unit, especially if it was learning strands that were awhile back. This method is not just glancing over the work you did in the past, however, it is going through each problem and redoing it to understand the reasoning behind each question. This will ensure that you truly understood the process to get to a question instead of just knowing the final answer to a question. Which will allow you to walk into a test being relaxed and assured that you understand the unit you are about to be assessed on completely and utterly. This method works extremely well for me as I take many advanced classes that cover a lot of material within short amounts of time, so retracing previous work from near the beginning of the unit is extremely helpful as it has been a long time since I’ve completed the work and it helps me remember important details about each topic. I recommend this method as it allows one to remember a large amount of material while also getting in some practice as well that will be concepts that will reappear on the test. By doing this method I’ve been able to be calm on tests as I have spent time practicing how the unit worked in the context of problems instead of just skimming over the information again right before the test, which is why the method works greatly as the practice will make it easier to remember than just plain memorization.
