Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Preparing for a test can be extremely stressful. I discovered my routine of studying during my sophomore year of high school and have had successful outcomes ever since. I begin my studying at least 3 days before the test that way I can process this information in groups. I start around 8 at night and I begin by clearing everything that I have on my desk so I can have room for new notes. After that, I take some gum and start chewing it. As I am reading the material, I start rephrasing the information into a form that I can understand it. Whether it be higher vocabulary broken down or a math equation explained step by step. All my notes must make sense to me because that is the benefit. As I am in this process I listen to classical music (listening to music can improve focus on a task) because background noise lets me concentrate. My studying also consists of studying in 30 through 40 minutes so I won’t get burned out. I take a break after studying for about 20 minutes. When I get back to studying this time, I rerun through the notes I had written down earlier to concept what I was learning and expunge unnecessary notes. I only study for about 20 to 30 minutes on my second time. After studying I go to bed and get at least 8 hours of sleep to allow my brain to retrieve the information. When I get to the test, I take out a piece of gum and masticate it as I am taking it.
