Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
My favorite way to prepare for a test actually starts long before the test date. I love planners and using them to organize my days. I use scheduling and a planner to break down what I will study each day leading up to the test. This helps me focus on each section of the test and gives me time to perfect each part. I usually start with the hardest and review past days before moving on to the next night's main focus. This makes it much less stressful because the night before the test I am not trying to cram in five days of studying. This makes it easier for me to get a good night's sleep because I am not up studying late because I have worked on that all week. This also gives me much more confidence heading into the test because I am positive that I know what I need to for the test. I usually do better on tests when I am more confident than when I am stressed and nervous.
I also think making my own flashcards really helps me when it comes to test preparation. Many people use other people's flashcards or even ones that they have found online. While this does save a lot of time and may help if you are running low on time, I try to take time to make my own flashcards because I feel they are much more effective when you make them yourself. When I make them myself, I understand the content better and it makes me more confident in my knowledge of the concepts on the test. I believe the test preparation practices that I have implemented into my routines for high school will really help me keep a high GPA as I enter college in the fall.
