Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
I used to write everything down and realized how much time and energy that was taking up. So I started making flashcards and that then evolved into making my own study guides. I also make up songs and phrases to remember sequences or steps in a process or chart. I started college ,as i'm sure what is considered ancient, to all the young college students and had to figure out how to study again since it had been so long since high school. I find that not every way works the same for everyone. Some students can just sit and listen to a lecture without taking a single note and do just fine, but for me if I don't write it down I don't remember it. It has been a struggle, but I have finally found my groove of making study guides and making up silly sayings and songs to pass my tests. I think a lot of students underestimate their abilities to take tests and to find a successful process for them. Whether that is flashcards or reading every single word in a textbook, you have to find what works for you and you only. I am grateful for resources such as Mometrix who offer support and ways of studying successfully.
