Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
I can't say that I have the best test preparation techniques for everyone, but I have certainly found what works best for me. First, I listen to the textbook content while I'm reading the text. Because I am dyslexic, this helps me retain information more concretely than reading alone. In addition, I find ways to relate content that needs to be memorized to something that I find comical, usually some form of reference to the show The Office. I've found that things that make me laugh stick out in my mind much more than the usual mundane information gathered throughout the day. From there, I use repetition. If using flashcards, I only pull five at a time. If I answer one incorrectly, it gets repeated in my hand of five until I've come across it enough times that I can recall the answer without hesitation. I've found that if I limit my study sessions and allow five to ten minute breaks in between, I can retain and recall information with more ease than if I attempt to cram everything at one time.
