Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
My favorite test preparation practice is a study recollection method. When I am studying for a particularly hard exam, I chew mint gum while reviewing the material. Then on exam day, I chew mint gum again and it helps me remember back to my previously studied material. The gum increases my alertness and concentration and I believe it also improves my cognitive performance during test-taking. I have problems focusing and paying attention to the task on hand, and I sometimes tend to zone out. However, I remember reading a psychology article earlier last year about the benefits of chewing gum whilst taking an exam and I thought it was worth a shot. I had a huge test coming up and I knew I had to put all my attention towards this exam. I started chewing gum while studying and on the exam date I chewed the same mint gum. I was able to stay alert for the entire duration of the exam and remembering what I studied earlier in the week came much easier. Another study recollection method I do is listening to certain songs while studying. I will pick a couple of songs and play them on loop while studying. I do this method when there is a list of vocab words I need to memorize. Then I associate the words I'm studying to words in the song. Then during the exam, I think back to the song and it helps me remember the words I had difficulty memorizing.
