Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

When I think about exams, one thing comes instantly to mind- flashcards. Normally, in college, you take a TON of notes. Every day in class, you sit there and write a bunch of information down. While this is a great technique, when studying, it's hard for a person to sit there and read through a million pages of notes. Therefore, I propose that everyone should take use of these handy dandy tiny pieces of papers. Flashcards are an amazing way to retain and understand information. They promote studying through a process called active recall, which is one of the most effective ways to remember information. Not only are you studying while writing down the information, you're also training your brain to understand this information. After, you finish writing down all your information on notecards, you begin to go through them and memorize them. My first 2 semesters of college, I really struggled with studying and taking exams, I would go through my notes for days and still fail exams. I begin using notecards and suddenly my grades skyrocketed. I was able to actually UNDERSTAND the information on the test instead of just going through the motions of taking an exam. This is why I propose that notecards are the best study technique for a student to have!
