Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
We all learn differently. I find the strongest of my learning style are visual & auditory. I have a great memory, so I use it.
When I’m in class, I pay very close attention to what I hear my teachers say as well as their visual presentations. I have a very keen auditory sense, so I remember what is being discussed.
When it comes down to study for a test I’m usually confident that I’ve already retained 70% of information just from my natural ability to retain visual & auditory class participation.
But to grasp the other 30% that I did not see or hear will take the greatest effort of all, my desire to self-motivate to learn the material I need for the exam. Sometimes reading can be daunting, if I find the information uninteresting.
So I extract the important facts from my textbooks by writing them down. I replace the lyrics of a catchy song with my information. The song becomes my tool. When you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything. Hence, “Do-Re-Mi.” I bet not many thought this little song would come in handy during the college years.
Muscle memory is a technique I use all the time. I memorize the new lyrics and voila, an instant study guide.
Now my secret is out, lol. Learning is an important part of growing and evolving. In order to triumph in anything, the first step is to try. What I’ve learned so far, is that life often gives us the test before the lesson. So preparation is essential.
I’m prepared to be successful at whatever comes my way because I have confidence that everything I need to be great is already inside me. I own all the tools I’ve mentioned to work with and I’m grateful for the amazing teachers, instructors, and mentors so far that have guided me.
