Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Call me old-fashioned if you will, but my preferred form of test preparation and studying, first and foremost, is hand-written notes. I write my notes by hand versus typing them because then I can feel every pencil or pen stroke beneath my fingers and I can make connections while I'm writing. I have the ability to write in the paper margins and jot down notes or tricks to help me remember: key words or phrases, analogies and similies, or I can even use color to help words stick out . While in lecture or while reading my textbooks I hand write my notes using a glorious amount of highlighters or colored pens. It says somewhere in psychology that we are better to remember information when it is written in various colors and/or when we are able to make connections with the text. After my hand-written notes are done, I use various websites that allow me to make flashcards out of my information that way I have different forms of resources to help me study. Lastly, If I really can't get something to stick and I can draw it out, I will draw it out by hand to the best of my abilities and color code that to help me visually understand what it is I'm learning.
