Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

I have always been an extremely anxious test taker. The SATS? Forget about it. I always joke around and say you could put a test in front of me and give me all access to a search engine, like Google, and I would STILL find a way to not do great on that test. For some people, it is simply a mental game. I have always been a hard working student- getting good grades didn't come easy to me. I had to study and get extra help, and try hard. Don't get me wrong, I HATED studying. Throughout my entire life, I have LOVED music. I love playing instruments, and I used music as a way to relieve my stress. Playing guitar or singing a song was my way of leaving reality for a little bit,. With this being said, my favorite way to prepare for tests is to make a song about it! Students use this tool all over. I remember learning geography songs for different countries in grade school. Some people laugh at me, but I have never found any other way to help me prepare for taking a test or exam. I typically aim for catchy songs, where I can rhyme away with the information I need. Not only does this make studying and preparing for tests fun, but it also relieves my stress and anxiety while taking a test! A double whammy! I eventually want to become an Italian teacher, and I really want to influence my students in a positive way. I want to make a change, and I want people to love my class. I plan on sharing my song technique with my students in hopes that they have more fun with the content I am teaching and everyone is able to succeed- easy test takers all the way to students like me who struggle.
