Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
I have used a variety of test preparation practices throughout my academic career to help me succeed. One of the most effective methods for me is using index cards when I need to familiarize myself with terminology. Index cards are a great way to memorize certain things because it's easy to read the term, look at its definition on the other side, and then sorting it into piles of what you've gotten right and wrong. Then, all you have to do is go through the terms you've gotten wrong and just keep at it until it clicks! For state tests, the SAT, ACT, and AP exams, it is extremely effective to go through past exams and take those. It is also helpful to have review books that focus on those specific exams. The reason being, it will allow you to familiarize yourself with the content and what the tests are asking from you. Since most of them are also timed, practicing doing them will also help with timing and pacing when it comes to the actual exams. I have found that practicing old exams taught me a lot, especially with the AP exams and state tests because there is content in them that is relevant to what is being taught in the classroom.
