Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
For me, the best way to prepare for a test is to first set aside a specific amount of time for the task. I set aside a period of time, so I know that I need to focus in during that time period and when it’s done to take a break. By having a set period of time to work, I do not allow myself to study to the point of mindlessness instead being extremely focused for a shorter period of time. The next tip I use for studying is to go through my notes I have taken in class. I start by underlining all the main topics and terms, and then prioritize my areas I need the most help on. By breaking it down into more sizeable chunks of information, it is easier for a person to see how much more they need to study. During my time studying I like to compile the areas I need to study into a list. Once I have formed the list, I divide it into sections. Then as I’m studying, I try to complete each section before taking a break. This way I can visibly see the progress I am making as I go down the list. I feel it is important to remember to take breaks and not overwhelm one’s self as that only leads to more stress which will distract you from your subjecting you are preparing for. Studying until you burn out can cause a person to feel overwhelmed and stressed out, making it even harder to get back to studying and overall can be a detriment to one’s academic success.
