Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Malcom X, an influential leader and civil rights activist, once affirmed, "Education is the passport to the future , for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." Effective test preparation practices are essential for success to be able to recall important material for future exams and for the benefit of acquiring knowledge to use throughout my life. As a diligent and hardworking student, I have developed many test practices that have contributed to my successes all throughout high school that I will use in college. To begin, I use Quizlet, a free online study application with various tools and games to efficiently retain information, for nearly every school subject. Quizlet has many features such as flashcards, practice tests, free response questions and matching games. The website makes it easy to put in the information, without being time consuming, and they give you tools to ensure one has enough practice to master the subject. I use the flashcards and free response features the most because seeing and writing the information down most effectively allows me to retain the information quickly and reinforce my memory during my future assessments. However, when I am in class taking notes, I always color code my topics with highlighters which aid in retention of the information. Therefore, when I review my notes, I can create a visual representation to allow me to make more effective connections and strengthen my memory of the topics. Also, another technique that helps me remember the information is recording myself saying the material on my voice memos app on my iPhone and then listening to the audio repeatedly. As a result, speaking and hearing allows me to absorb information and encode the memory stronger by visualizing images in my mind. Essentially, these test preparation strategies always help me perform to the best of my ability. Test preparation is integral to further understand the concepts and boost my confidence on the exam date.
