Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
First, constant review of material was a great way for me to remember different concepts that were present in class. In order to achieve this there are many methods that I used, such as creating study guides and creating practice quizzes on Quizlets. Though this involved a lot of writing and typing the more I was creating study outlets the more I would remember. Once both the study guide and quizlet was completed I continued to review sections day by day. This allows for our brains to categorize the information. From my recent psychology course, I have learned for the best results an individual must pace themselves when learning new material instead of cramming everything at once. Whether my review session was only for 10 minutes or 2 hours I always made sure to study in intervals, so I wouldn’t feel overwhelmed with information. The self made quizlets and study guides were great practice exams that I used to test my knowledge and whether I completely understand the concepts.
Second, having confidence in myself. When it comes to preparing for an exam I always made sure I was in a positive mindset to study. This was important to my overall outcome because there would be times where I could easily sike myself out and not think that I’m not good enough. The sense of confidence in myself reminded me that I can do anything I set my mind to as long as I work hard for it. It’s not easy taking exams, but when I trust myself and learn to trust my instincts I did better on my exams.
Our minds tend to think negatively towards exams, but we need to redirect that anxious feeling into positive outlets of new ways to study and ace our next exams!
