Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Consistency is key.
Desperate cramming the night leading up to a big test only results in stress and memorization, not true comprehension. In order to succeed at an exam, I make sure to remain engaged in classes and reviews leading up to the big day. Assignments are gold mines of information, and it's imperative to do revisions to ensure that missed questions are thoroughly understood because any homework and assignments often contain clues for what to expect on a test.
Though I often don't take extensive notes, it's essential to have some form of handwritten notes with important concepts and facts. I like to keep my notes simple and rely on a system of bullet points with arrows and dashes to provide smaller tidbits of supplementary information. On a separate post-it note, I'll jot down any questions that I have and cross reference the answers with my teacher, textbook, and online resources. Once I have the answers, I like to repeat them to myself out loud and create a pattern to associate it with the content I've reviewed.
One of the best ways to learn is by teaching someone else. I'll often offer to assist my peers with any questions they might have. Through my own explanations, I am able to gain a solid comprehension of the topic at hand and work out the logic behind my responses. It's a win-win situation because other people get the help that they need and I acquire additional study-time!
One of the most major components of test preparation is actually self-care. A test can't be conquered if the test-taker isn't healthy! It's super important to reduce stress levels by participating in regular study so I can be confident about my academic ability. I also make sure to drink lots of water to stay hydrated and eat healthy snacks like yogurt, fruit, and veggies to keep my mind smart. Getting a good night's rest is also crucial to excellent performance. By remaining responsible for my own physical and mental health, I'm able to set myself up for success!
