Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
The first thing I do is breathe. The world will not end if you make because of what you make on this test. High stress in students can relate to detrimental mental health effects, such as depression decorated by the feeling of failure and uselessness. I must remind myself that the future and the world does not revolve around this one test. My mental health is far more important. With that being said, I must sleep and eat. I cannot pull an allnighter to study for an exam. If the information is not installed in my head by 9:30 pm, it most likely will not be there by the next day when I take the exam. It is extremely hard to study and take a test with sleep deprivation and malnourishment. For studying the exam content. the first thing I do, if one is not given, is create a study guide. Most textbooks give outlines or essential topics in the beginning of chapters that can be used to create a study guide for a test if a teacher does not give one. This way, I am aware of exactly what is needed for me to understand for the exam. Additionally, I make sure to study the bold vocabulary terms in textbooks or if given by teacher. I use online sources for studying or make flashcards and ask other people to help me study. A lot of times, knowing a specific vocabulary word can save you on a test, where you have no idea what the answer is, but you know the term used. You can eliminate certain answers that make no sense regarding the meaning of the word. For mathematical exams, I find it best to study by practicing multitudes of problems, that way, whatever problem the test throws at you, you can complete because you have already done specific problems like that. Lastly, find people that are studying the same thing you are. You may feel like you are the smartest person in the world, but two heads are better than one. Go over all the items that you came up with to study and also go over what they came up with. Make sure to discuss each question and answer choices.
