Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to learn how to best prepare myself for test. The way I study changes from subject to subject, but I still maintain a system while studying. For math, I have learned the best way for me to prepare for a test is to re-work the problems. I typically go through all of the notes and examples, then I do the problems, without looking, in a separate notebook. This works well for me because I am able to get familiar with the format of the problems and the processes become more natural for me. In my science, history, and other classes that are fact-based, I make flashcards with the notes. I typically review the flashcards myself, then I have my family or friends test me on the flashcards, but I have them flip the flashcards to the other side. By them asking me questions the opposite way, it allows me to feel more confident that I understand the content. If I am unable to answer the questions correctly, I set those flashcards in a separate pile to review more. Lastly, for literature classes, if the exams are over a work of literature, I place sticky notes throughout the text to remind me of what happened in the story and to remind me what strategies were used by the author. Throughout high school, the way I have prepared for test have been beneficial, and I have been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA with these practices. I plan to take the practices with me to college while adapting them to best suit my classes in college.
