Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
There are two very important things I do before I start preparing for a test. One of them is to have a clean and clutter free workspace. This helps me minimize stress, keep things in order, and get rid of any possible distractions. The next thing I do is to start early. Overtime, this will only become more important as my classes become more difficult. I find it better to study and know the material bit by bit each day, and as early as possible, instead of cramming all the information the week before the test. This helps me focus on the material instead of focusing on the thought of "I have to know this by tomorrow." The test itself is already stressful and the best thing I can do is to remove the stress that comes from being unprepared. There are two practices I do that have made a huge impact on how I study for tests. I write things down by hand and I make my own study guides with questions. I find this to be extremely helpful as it helps me recall information better. The questions on the study guides force me to retrieve the answer instead of just looking over notes or power points. Personally, I find these to be the best preparation practices to reduce stress and to study material for tests. However, I am always open to new ideas and suggestions.
