Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

I have never made anything by A’s in my classes my entire life. I am a 4.0 student, but I am not a naturally smart human being. I have worked extremely hard for my grades. I believe strongly in studying and test preparation. I would not be who I am today without it. My testing preparation has proved useful and successful. I have tried many different forms of this studying, and I believe I have perfected my personal test preparation practices.I have a system to learning. Before I go to class to learn a subject, I strive to read the chapter first. I believe that reading and trying to self-educate first allows for us as students to go to class to further our learning rather than expecting the teacher to give us all the knowledge, and it allows us to ask educational questions. After the teacher reinforces what I have read or learned prior to class, it is time to personally reinforce that knowledge. Often, I do this by re-writing notes from class or making a Quizlet study set, but I rather handwrite this step. I find that typing takes less brain effort than writing. After reinforcing this knowledge by handwriting notes, I like to put the knowledge into practice. I do this by completing homework or practice problems if homework is not given. This allows me to try to use my knowledge, and see if there are certain processes or topics, I still need to further study. Once I determine these weaker spots of my knowledge, I go back and further learn them so when test time comes, I am prepared. Then when it comes close to the test time, I study everything, especially the topics and processes I struggled the most with. I often like to re-read chapters as well during this final step to make sure I did not miss minor details that could be tricky test questions. This is my test preparation strategy, and it has proved extremely useful to me.
