Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

The best test preparation practice for me has to be taking a mock exam that simulates the real test. An example I have is when I was preparing for my AP English Language test. I would use a test from the previous years and put myself into a testing environment with the required time for each section and only have materials that will be available to me during the test. This helps simulate the actual test and gets me ready so if I run out of time in a particular section, I will know that I struggle in this section and that I need to time myself wisely during the actual test. It also helps me by knowing the scores I will be getting in each section. So for the English mock exam, I noticed that I don't score highly on the multiple-choice section. To help myself, I began practicing the multiple-choice section by using old tests and looking up strategies for the multiple-choice section. This test preparation practice is the best because it helps you have an understanding and feel of the testing environment, it shows you the areas of the test you perform well in and perform worse in, and helps you prepare for the areas you do struggle in so you can practice and perform well on that area when the test arrives. Also, this strategy works well for the AP because CollegeBoard has previous tests on its website so all you have to do is print them out, find someplace quiet without any distractions, have a timer to time yourself, and just do your very own mockup exam.
