Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

It is important to me that I prepare for a test far in advance to the test day. I prefer to take hand-written notes in order to better retain information. My go-to test preparation practice is to make my own study guide. Not only does having a study guide provide a layout of the information you need to know, making your own study guide is reviewing the information. I like to make my study guides in a fill in the blank style for different definitions and concepts. After I make the study guide I make myself a key. I go through the study guide and try to fill in the information as if it was the actual test, then I grade myself using the key. If I don't know the answer to a question or concept, I will circle it, review it, then try to answer it again. After I have successfully gone through the study guide with correct answers, I try to go through it again and be as accurate as possible. Making my own study guide helps me to review and retain test information by using recall, repetition, and reviewing my notes. This test preparation practice has proven very effective for me and even for some of my peers who I have shared this practice with.
