Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
The best way I prepare myself for a test is by following the three r's: repetition, reteaching, and retaking. I am not someone who immediately learns the lesson just by sitting in the classroom. This is why once the lesson ends I go home and I create online flashcards with Quizlet. This is where the first r comes into my routine: repetition. I go over the flashcards for at least 30 minutes a day. Creating a new memory requires your brain cells to create new connections. Being able to go over the flashcards helps nurture the connections over time so I do not forget the information I learned. After I am confident with the lesson I graduate from the first r and go on to the second r: reteaching. Teaching a friend or family member helps me to better understand and retain what I have learned. Additionally, it points out what parts of the lesson I am struggling with. This leads to deeper and longer-lasting acquisition of the information I was previously studying. Finally, I move on to my last r: retaking. To get myself ready for the test I take practice exams. There are many practice tests online and on school textbooks. This allows me to study outside my notes and look at new potential questions that might pop up on the test. These three r's have helped me boost my exam scores and retain the information I learned.
