Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

I have been accepted into Nursing School. Currently, I am in Medical Microbiology.
There are two test preparation practices I utilize depending on the subject or test I am studying for.
One is flash cards and the other is practice tests. When I am trying to memorize material, I prefer flash cards, they are the fastest and easiest way to memorize data. If I am memorizing the incubation period of a specific bacteria or virus flash cards are a great tool.
Two is practice tests. When I am implementing materials learned, like given signs and symptoms and having to diagnose the pretend patient, I prefer practice tests. There is not a good way to use flash cards in this type of setting. Both are important and used in their own way.
If I had to pick just one it would be flash cards, it is the fastest way to retain maximum information in short times. But, I would say that the answers need to be short enough to digest, flashcards that have paragraphs for answers are harder to use and maintain information.
Another great idea would be if there were labeled cards that someone could fill in, that way they can put in the answers their teacher uses without having to write the front of each card. Or, leaving a comment or extra space for a class/teacher specific answer.
