Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Throughout high school and many honors classes, I have picked up certain helpful ways of preparing for tests and various exams. Although, I do believe that each subject should be studied differently. One of my favorite subjects, biology, is a much more visual topic. When one learns about how different proteins and carbohydrates are broken down, it can be quite tricky to visualize that operation without seeing what it actually looks like during the process. For this class, I like to look up short informative videos so that I am able to get a better idea of what the different parts look like and how different things attach together and break apart. However, for classes like history or a second language course, I believe it is more helpful to have another person study with you. With another person there to assist, they can test you about different definitions of words or ideas. If a second person is not available to help someone study, I resort to flashcards. I think these are an efficient way to help yourself get to know the material much better. With classes like math and chemistry, I believe it helps tremendously to write down different problems and attempt to complete them on my own. I usually will look up different problems online and hide the solutions in order to do the problems modestly. I also always keep all of my papers and worksheets from previous years. I know it may seem unnecessary and maybe foolish, however it can be more helpful than you might think. Once a student progresses to higher levels of schooling, the information gets much more difficult. When this happens, pupils can get overwhelmed and forget the easier parts of a subject. It can always be helpful to read over previous worksheets to refresh the memory of the basic foundational prospects of a certain subject. With all of that being said, I believe each subject should be studied differently, as it is much more efficient and beneficial to the student.
